I Find it Hard is the latest single from Halifax-based duo, The Hazy Janes. Formed in the midst of the UK’s third COVID-19 lockdown, the band developed their latest release, and their first two singles, by exchanging voice notes between each another from their seperate homes.

From lyrics and vocal lines, to drum parts and song structure, the entire track was composed through a back-and-forth of 60 second voice notes from throughout lockdown. The result: a passionate and gut-instinct driven track straight from the soul.

After playing their first shows across north in summer 2021, the band returned to Young Thugs Studios in York in October to lay down their new single; the duo recorded the track live in one take to capture the energy and electricity of these live performances.

Driven by the vocals of their frontman, Ellis Best, the track oozes raw emotion and untamed passion, with a slide guitar which mirrors the raunchy intent of the vocals. With dynamics at its core, the drum part of Bron Bury steers the ship steady from calmness to eventual avalanche, helping to craft the Halifax duo’s most vibrant and vulnerable release yet.

Ellis says: “I find it hard is written in a sense of how hard it can be to talk about your feelings, even to someone close.”

Bron added: “We stripped back the layers on the track to just vocals, guitar and drums to really let the vocals breathe. As they say: less is more”
